Introducing IsonSearch

We are building IsonSearch, a search engine for the Indonesian web, designed from the start to serve AI rather than advertising.

Most search engines are built for people clicking through results. They rank the global web, optimize for broad coverage, and reward pages that perform well in consumer search. That does not always work when an AI assistant needs to answer questions about Indonesian regulation, prices, public services, or current events. Relevant local sources are often buried. Fresh pages are missed. Too many results come from outside the country or from low-quality sites.

IsonSearch exists to give our AI a retrieval foundation that is local, current, and trustworthy.

A specialist for the Indonesian web

IsonSearch indexes the Indonesian web specifically. It continuously crawls Indonesian sources across government, education, news, health, finance, law, and reference. It understands questions written in Indonesian and prioritizes sources that matter to people and institutions in the country.

We are not trying to build the largest possible global index. We are building depth and relevance inside one country. Pages are organized by source quality, so credible Indonesian sources are easier for AI to find and cite.

Optimized for AI

IsonSearch is built to be read by AI, not only by people. Search results are returned with page content already extracted and ready to use, so an assistant can ground an answer quickly instead of fetching and parsing pages one by one.

Ranking is tuned for the way people ask questions to AI systems. It favors pages that are current, well-sourced, and directly relevant, rather than pages designed only to win clicks. In practice that means faster answers, grounded in stronger sources, with citations that lead back to real Indonesian pages.

IsonSearch Curator

A search engine is only as useful as the pages it allows into its index. The open web contains spam, trackers, scraper traps, copied content, and pages that add little value. IsonSearch Curator is the quality layer we are building to keep that noise out.

Curator reviews incoming sources and pages, using AI to help identify what is credible, what is low-quality, and what is not useful for an Indonesian audience. Good sources are kept and prioritized. Weak or harmful sources are demoted or removed.

We are designing Curator with a simple rule: automation should be correctable. Routine actions can run automatically, but every action is logged and reversible. Decisions that should not be made without human judgment stay with people.

Run inside the country

Like the rest of Epithre’s products, IsonSearch crawls, indexes, and serves results entirely on hardware we operate ourselves in Indonesia. The index and the data behind it stay in-country.

Where it stands

IsonSearch already serves as the retrieval foundation behind our AI. IsonSearch Curator is in active development.

We are expanding the index and the range of credible Indonesian sources it covers. Organizations interested in Indonesian-specialist, AI-ready search can reach us at research@epithre.com.
